a portrait of the artist as a dog

The dog has evolved a
uniquely empirical
approach to consumption:
eat everything
and let the digestive tract decide
which items to accept or reject.

This behavior has proven to be
a remarkably effective strategy
for the survival of the species
over millions of years
but occasionally produces results
not entirely conducive
to the survival of an individual dog
such as one canine
who ate my
hand-woven,
hand-dyed
throw rug
and shit fiber art
for a week.
